Driver Arrested After Crashing Into State Trooper
Troop F
HAVERHILL, N.H. – A driver who struck a New Hampshire State Police cruiser is facing multiple charges.
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, Trooper Jawara Conde responded to the area of County Road in Haverhill to assist officers from the Haverhill Police Department in locating the driver of a white Hyundai Elantra, who failed to stop for them. Soon after, as Trooper Conde was traveling northbound on County Road, he observed the white Hyundai traveling southbound toward him.
Trooper Conde activated his cruiser’s emergency lights in an attempt to stop the Hyundai as the vehicle was being driven recklessly toward him, swerving in and out of both the southbound and northbound lanes. The driver of the Hyundai continued and ultimately struck Trooper Conde’s cruiser, before reversing in an apparent attempt to flee the scene. The driver of the Hyundai then attempted to turn the vehicle around but instead went off the road and became stuck in a ditch.
The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Abigail Ordway, 38, of Littleton, was taken into custody on felony charges of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, operating after habitual offender and criminal mischief; as well as misdemeanor charges of aggravated DUI – attempting to elude police, DUI – impairment, conduct after an accident, and disobeying an officer.
Ordway was transported to the Grafton County Department of Corrections and was held on preventative detention following an arraignment on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Trooper Conde was not injured. The State Police was assisted at the scene by Woodsville Ambulance, the Haverhill Police Department, and the Bath Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Jacob Ingerson at Jacob.J.Ingerson@DOS.NH.GOV or (603) 223-8477.
