Motor Vehicle Crash - Route 1 Bypass/ Sarah Long Bridge, Portsmouth

On Wednesday March 31, 2021 at approximately 5:50 a.m. Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop-A responded to Route 1 Bypass on the Sarah Long Bridge in the town of Portsmouth for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a commercial vehicle. Initial on-scene investigation revealed that a 2020 Freightliner truck with a box trailer in tow being driven by Stephen Keith age 52, of Lewiston, ME was traveling southbound when a 2018 Toyota Corolla being driven by Dakotah Cappelletty age 24, of Rochester, NH had been traveling northbound and crossed the center line impacting the rear axle of the box trailer. Cappelletty sustained multiple non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for evaluation. The Sarah long Bridge was closed for approximately 1.5 hours while the Freightliner and passenger vehicle were recovered by National Wrecker service. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Troopers from New Hampshire State Police Troop-A were assisted at the scene by NH State Police Troop-G Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Portsmouth Police, Portsmouth Fire and Rescue as well as National Wrecker.
