Traffic Enforcement Initiative Reveals Over 50 Violations
SALEM, N.H. – During a traffic enforcement initiative this week, 52 drivers were observed committing driving violations, some traveling faster than 100 MPH.
Yesterday morning, Dec. 23, 2024, the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic enforcement initiative on Interstate 93 North in Salem, using the State Police Aircraft.
During the flight, Troopers observed 52 different motor vehicle violations. The violations included speeding, distracted driving, following too closely, and reckless driving. Of the violations, 20 drivers were seen traveling 90 miles per hour or greater, and five drivers were driving recklessly, traveling faster than 100 miles per hour.
The New Hampshire State Police would like to remind drivers that the minimum penalties for reckless driving include a fine of $620 with an additional mandatory penalty assessment and a 60-day loss of driver’s license; the standard fine for traveling at speeds of 86 miles per hour or faster is $434.
Troopers will continue to work with their partners at the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety to conduct focused traffic enforcement to reduce speeds, prevent serious crashes, and ensure the safety of the residents and visitors to the Granite State this holiday season.
