Wrong-Way Driver In Critical Condition After Crash On Interstate 89

Troop D

LEBANON, N.H. – An Enfield woman is in critical condition after driving the wrong way in Lebanon.

At 1:24 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, State Police dispatch began receiving reports of a wrong-way driver on Interstate 89, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes at Exit 18 in Lebanon. Less than a minute later an update was received, reporting that the wrong-way vehicle had crashed.

The preliminary investigation on the scene revealed that a Buick Lucerne, driven by Kathleen Ford, 90, of Enfield, had been traveling the wrong way when it struck a VW Atlas SUV, driven by Jennifer Pivovar, 67, of Randolph Center, Vermont, head-on. As a result, the VW Atlas SUV then struck another vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata, driven by Erin O’Connor, 24, of Warner.

Ford was transported to a hospital in critical condition, and the other two drivers, Pivovar and O’Connor, were transported to a hospital to be evaluated.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 89 were shut down for about an hour during the investigation, one lane was later opened to allow traffic to pass. About half an hour later all the lanes were reopened.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by members of the Lebanon Fire Department, the Lebanon Police Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. Several local Police departments also assisted with the lane closures by diverting traffic.

No charges have been filed at this time. All aspects of this crash remain under investigation. If anyone has footage of the crash or any other information that could be helpful to this investigation, please contact Trooper Peter Kosakowski at 603-223-3831 or Peter.C.Kosakowski@dos.nh.gov.
