Wrong-Way Driver Stopped By New Hampshire State Troopers

Troop A

AUBURN, N.H. – A Danville man was medically evaluated after driving the wrong way on Route 101.

At 11:03 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, State Troopers assigned to Troop A barracks received a report of a small sedan traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 101 in Auburn. Troopers immediately coordinated with local agencies to slow traffic along the highway while they started looking for the reported wrong-way driver.

At 11:09 p.m., Troopers located the driver of the sedan still traveling the wrong way in Raymond. They were able to stop the car safely and identified the driver as Albert Weigert, 68, of Danville.

While the investigation is ongoing, it is believed that a medical episode is a primary contributor to this event. Weigert was transported to Elliott Hospital for evaluation before being released. He is scheduled to appear in Candia District Court on Mar. 15, 2025 at 8:15 a.m. on charges of negligent operation and wrong-way operation.

The New Hampshire State Police would like to thank the many witnesses who contributed to the safe resolution of this incident, in addition to assistance from members of the Epping Police Department, Auburn Police Department and Raymond Police Department. Anyone with additional information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to call (603) 223-4381.
