Boating Accident - Lake Winnipesaukee, Gilford

On Friday, June 28, 2019 at approximately 10:42 PM, New Hampshire State Police - Marine Patrol Communications received a 9-1-1 call reporting a boating accident near Lakeshore Park on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford. Specifically, an 18-year old male was reported to have fallen out of a boat and was struck by the vessel.

A few minutes later, Marine Patrol officers arrived on scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 19-year old male from Stoneham, MA was operating a 20' pontoon boat. He and six other people aboard the vessel were returning to a dock when one of the passengers lost his balance and fell overboard. After falling into the water, the boat struck the male victim's leg. He was assisted back onto the vessel and they returned to shore where Gilford Fire/Rescue personnel evaluated him. The 18-year old victim from Derry, NH was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia for treatment.
