Commercial Vehicle Crash

DOVER, New Hampshire – On January 15, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., the New Hampshire State Police Troop A barracks was notified of a single vehicle crash on Route 16 Northbound in Dover.  The operator, identified as James Cartmill, age 60, of Concord, NH lost control of his Peterbilt Dump Truck and veered off the roadway just north of exit 9.  The vehicle came to rest in the tree line, with no other vehicles involved.  Cartmill complained of soreness and sought treatment at a local urgent care.

Troop A was assisted on scene by New Hampshire State Police Troop G as well as by members of Dover Fire/EMS, the Department of Environmental Services and RS Audley Construction.  The right lane of Route 16 in the area of the crash was shut down for over 3 hours due to recovery and clean up.

The cause of this crash appears to be a mechanical issue; however, all aspects of this case remain under investigation.  If you witnessed the crash, or have any information regarding any of these events, please contact New Hampshire State Police Trooper William Bohnenberger at William.F.Bohnenberger@dos.nh.gov.
