Update: Death Investigation

Troop A, Marine Patrol

NEWINGTON, N.H. – On Friday, May 3, 2024, the Marine Patrol unit and Troop A, along with members of the Newington Police Department, responded to the area of Fox Point Road in Newington for a report of a body in the Piscataqua River. Upon investigation, it was determined that the deceased adult male is related to the April 10, 2024 incident along the Interstate 95 high-level bridge in Portsmouth.

NEWINGTON, N.H. – One person is deceased, and a death investigation is underway in Newington.

Just before 5 p.m. today, May 3, 2024, the Newington Police Department notified the Marine Patrol unit of the New Hampshire State Police that a deceased person could be seen in the Piscataqua River, around Fox Point Road and Windswept Way, in Newington. Members of Marine Patrol, Troop A, and the Newington Fire Department responded. 

The body of a deceased adult male was recovered by first responders. The body was then transported for examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to confirm identity, along with cause and manner of death. 

While the investigation is ongoing, evidence recovered indicates the death is not suspicious in nature and there is no threat to the public.
