Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

ERROL, New Hampshire – On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at approximately 4:10 p.m., New Hampshire State Police Troop F received a call through E-911, from a motorist, reporting a vehicle in the Androscoggin River, south of the town of Errol.   The caller reported the vehicle was completely under the water.   Errol Fire and Rescue were immediately toned to the scene.  A Trooper from the Troop F Barracks who was also in the town of Errol was able to respond within minutes of the call.  

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders located a vehicle just under the water line on the east side of the road.  They were unable to locate a driver or any passengers and were unable to access the vehicle due to the depth of the water.  Due to the vehicle being in the river, New Hampshire Fish and Game was called to respond with their dive team, as well New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol.  Milan Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Conservation Officers were able to locate the vehicle approximately 50 feet offshore in about 12-15 feet of water.  Upon entering the water and locating the vehicle, Fish and Game divers were able to locate the driver still inside.  The driver was identified as:

Michael Marshall
Age: 21
Littleton, NH

The vehicle was identified as a blue 2000 Ford Mustang, registered out of Upton, ME.

The driver was the only person believed to be in the vehicle at the time of the crash.   The crash remains under investigation and the cause is unknown at this time.  Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Trooper Bryan Griffin at (603) 271-1170.
