SALEM, New Hampshire - On February 1, 2024, at approximately 4:25 p.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on I-93 South at mile 0.2.  Troopers arrived to find a serious crash involving two vehicles approaching the Massachusetts state line.  Roadway evidence and witness statements indicate that a:

came upon heavy commuter traffic near the Massachusetts state line and failed to slow or stop in time to avoid crashing into a:

2020 Chevrolet Trax

Members of the Salem Fire Department attempted life saving measures on the driver of the Chevrolet Trax, but the driver was later pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers from the Troop B barracks in Bedford were assisted on scene by members of the NH State Police CAR Unit, Salem Fire Department and NH Department of Transportation.

All Southbound lanes, south of Exit 1 were shut down while the crash scene was processed.  Southbound traffic was routed off Exit 1 prior to the scene, while the traffic stuck in-between was re-routed onto the northbound side.  The road was reopened after approximately 3 hours.

All aspects of the crash remain under investigation.  The New Hampshire State Police requests anyone with information pertaining to this crash to contact Trooper Madelynn Davis at (603) 451-9782.
