Motor Vehicle Crash Results in DUI Arrest

NASHUA, New Hampshire – On February 15, 2024, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Trooper Puopolo from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks along with Nashua Fire and EMS and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike South near Exit 1. Upon his arrival, Trooper Puopolo observed a:

2011 BMW 3-Series
Color: White

Operated by:

James EPPOLITO
Age: 23
Nashua, NH

And a:

2019 Lexus RX450H
Color: White

Operated by:

Horng AY
Age: 62
Lowell, MA

Trooper Puopolo noted both vehicles were heavily damaged, in the middle of the roadway blocking all lanes of travel.  The crash caused the roadway to be shut down for approximately 40 minutes.

Preliminary investigation found that EPPOLITO was driving at a very high rate of speed prior to running off the roadway and striking a guardrail, before bouncing off of it striking and striking the 2019 Lexus.

After a roadside investigation, EPPOLITO was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving.  EPPOLITO was later released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Nashua District Court in March.

The occupants of the 2019 Lexus were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua for minor injuries. EPPOLITO refused medical care.

All aspects of the crash remain under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper Evan Puopolo at Evan.R.Puopolo@dos.nh.gov
