Operation Turnpike Protection

Merrimack, New Hampshire – On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, New Hampshire State Police Troop B teamed up with officers from the Merrimack Police Department and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department to increase visible patrols and improve driving conditions on the Everett Turnpike in Merrimack. During the morning commute, over 14,500 vehicles had passed through the Bedford Tolls by 10AM.

Troopers, Officers and Sheriffs involved supplemented the patrols on the Everett Turnpike, stopping numerous vehicles. During the course of the initiative, Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of Exit 11, which slowed down the morning commute through the Merrimack stretch briefly. An officer stopped a vehicle traveling at 101 MPH and the operator was issued a summons to appear in court for Reckless Driving.

New Hampshire State Police in conjunction with law enforcement partners will continue to focus on aggressive driving and excessive speed with the goal of improving safety during the daily commute for New Hampshire drivers. This operation will continue through the month of December during all hours of the day and night.
