Rollover Motor Vehicle Crash, F.E. Everett Turnpike Southbound - Merrimack

On April 5, 2022 at approximately 10:40AM Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks in Bedford responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pickup truck that had rolled over. This crash was reported to have occurred along the F.E. Everett Turnpike South in the area of mile marker 14.2, just south of the Exit #12 on-ramp, in Merrimack.

Upon arrival, Troopers located a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado with a dump bed rolled over onto its side in the southbound lanes. A 2009 Hyundai Elantra was also involved in this crash. It was determined that the driver of the Hyundai Elantra, who was identified as Steven Carey (Age 33), of Manchester, NH, had become distracted while driving which caused him to exit his lane of travel and strike the rear of the Chevrolet Silverado being driven by Brian Moses (Age 47) of Manchester, NH.

Upon being struck, the Chevrolet Silverado lost control and rolled over. No injuries were sustained by Mr. Carey or an adult female passenger in his vehicle. Mr. Moses sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The contributing factor to this crash appears to be Mr. Carey's inattentive operation however, all aspects remain under investigation. The State Police was assisted on scene by members of the Merrimack Police and Fire Departments as well as the Department of Transportation. The left lane in both directions was closed for approximately one hour during this investigation and clean-up.
