Search in Connecticut River - Mt. Orne Covered Bridge, Lancaster

In the continuation of a search that occurred on the Connecticut River in Lancaster on August 6, 2021, Law Enforcement agencies will again be searching the area below the Mt. Orne covered bridge today. The vehicle of Alberta Leeman was found in August by NH Fish & Game, utilizing their specialized technology. Today's search is related to that vehicle.

The search today is a result of the collaborative effort between the NH State Police, NH Fish & Game, Gorham Police Department, and the Vermont State Police. Additional partners assisting with the search include Forensic Anthropologist from the University of New Hampshire, and an underwater recovery specialist from Atlantic Aquasport in Rye. A DiveDock work boat is some of the specialized equipment on scene to assist with the searching and recovery process. Innovative techniques employed by industry professionals are being utilized by the partners involved in the search.

There will be a strong law enforcement presence in the area of the Mt. Orne Covered bridge, but there is no danger to the public in connection with this exercise. Lancaster Fire Department and Grafton County Sheriff Department are providing resources to assist with the search operation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available while still protecting the integrity of the ongoing investigation. No additional information is expected to be released today as a result of the searching.

Ms. Leeman’s family appreciates that their family privacy will continue to be respected as they deal with the traumatic events surrounding the disappearance of their beloved family member. The family is thankful for the dedicated efforts of those involved in the investigation.
