Vehicle drives 14 miles the wrong way on I-93

On November 28, 2021 at approximately 10:22pm, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks received multiple calls regarding a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the highway, heading southbound in the northbound lane in the area of Exit 6 on Interstate 93 in Manchester.

Troopers responded in an attempt to stop the vehicle as it approached the lower split at the junction with I-293.  Trooper Winslow made his way northbound through Londonderry where he encountered the vehicle still traveling the wrong way in the area of mile marker 13.4. Trooper Winslow was unable to get the operator to stop.

Trooper Winslow took the next crossover and was able to catch up to the vehicle, now following it from the southbound side as Troopers and local authorities attempted to get in position to deploy a stopping tactic.

Troopers continued to travel parallel to the vehicle on the southbound side with their emergency signals activated in an effort to get the operator to stop. As the vehicle approached the weigh station in Windham, Troopers lost visual of the vehicle due to the tree line dividing the median and was last seen in the area of mile marker 6. Troopers and local authorities had set up in the crossovers immediately south of the Exit 3 off ramp anticipating that it would continue southbound in the northbound lane but the vehicle had either corrected its path of travel or gotten off the highway via the Exit 3 northbound onramp.

The vehicle in question is believed to be a late 2000’s Ford SUV, dark in color. Anyone who may have witnessed this event and has information regarding additional make, model, or plate information or may have dash cam footage of the event is asked to contact Trooper Jacob Winslow at 603-223-4381 or Jacob.A.Winslow@dos.nh.gov.
