Wrong Way Driver on I-93 in Ashland, NH

On 2/15/2021 at approximately 12:26 A.M. NH State Police received reports of a vehicle driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 93. The vehicle was reported to be driving southbound in the northbound lanes. The initial report indicated the vehicle was in the area of Exit 27, a second call reported the vehicle in the area of Exit 25.  An Ashland Police officer and Sanbornton Police officer attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of Exit 23, however the vehicle changed directions by entering a crossover and began driving northbound in the South bound lanes. With the assistance of Ashland Police, Sanbornton Police and Plymouth Police, the vehicle was successfully stopped in the area of mile marker 72.2. Troopers from NH State Police Troop D arrived shortly after and took custody of the operator. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Christopher Power of Plymouth, NH, Age: 36.

Power was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless conduct and open container. He will be arraigned on March 8, 2021 out of Plymouth District Court.
